In a very extended half hour interview with Henny van Egmond (in English) I talk with him about the new world of work at Rabobank, the only triple A bank in the world. Henny runned a project Rabo unplugged there and now that this is going well, he decided to start his own company and advice other large companies on changing the way they work.

The most important things I got out of the interview:

astermanIsn’t Second Life dead? Well, not according to Amazon recruitment. And they have proven everybody that thinks so wrong. Amazon had a second life job fair the 14th of july. They announced it on their blogs and did a little promotion on it. Nothing much, I saw the figures, I’ve thrown dinner parties more expensive.

Because despite the recession, Amazon is still looking for 522 people. Sow they needed to do something, and they did. And when I read: Second Life, I was sceptical, very sceptical. Second Life died last year, who in his right mind still does Second Life events. But the results tell a different story.

productsReckitt Benckiser, you might know them from brands like Calgon, Vanish or Strepsils, recently launched a recruitment blog. Well, I’m a big fan of corporate blogging and expirimenting, but this blog totally misses the point. Sorry to say it, but it does.

Door Bas van de Haterd op 12-02-2009 18:40.

I’ve already written this article in Dutch, since it’s about Belgium and Holland and we both speak Dutch. But I recently found out that the prices of posting a job to a jobboard vary enourmasly between countries. And also the possibilities the jobboards offer.

I first found out when I started doing consultancy for Broadbean that the UK had a very different set of standards then we have in Holland. For example, in the UK a corporate and a staffing agency have totally different prices they pay (and I mean it can easily be a 100 times more expensive for a corporate), but also in possibilities you get on a jobboard. Even the number of characters you are allowed to use differs between staffing agencies and corporates in Engeland, while in Holland it doesn’t.
